In our home, there was one little space at the top of the stairs that longed to be having a calling. It took us a while to figure out what exactly we needed this space to be. We thought about making it a giant joint closet for all the girls of the house. I thought about eliminating the wall and just making it part of a giant landing at the top of the stairs. But in the end, I really needed it for design purposes. Sooooo…
I found the acrylic desk on etsy. It was perfect for such a small space! The see-throughness of it makes the room feel a little larger. The green chairs were a much lighter green in their first life. I took the same “BM-Bunker Hill” green that I used in my office and painted these two chairs. I had them re-upholstered in the same fabric I used in the window treatments in both my office and this work space.
These fun frames are one of my favorite DIY’s! They used to be black 11×14 frames that I purchased from Target years ago. I needed some cork boards to hang fabrics for different projects I’m working on. So, naturally, what once was painted flat black needed to be jazzed up with a little bling! Have you used liquid leaf yet? IT IS ADDICTING! After painting these, I seriously looked around the garage for more items that needed to be goldified!
I really do love the outcome. And fabric being my favorite part of this job, I LOVE to walk in this room to review my thoughts on different combos!
This fun cabinet has been in our family since 1997. We purchased a 100-year-old home and this was original to the wash room in the back yard.
It was even yellow! I still love love it! It perfectly houses lots-o-design books!
On the opposite side of the room is another crackly old cabinet that I’ve had for many many years. When my kids were little it was hanging in their playroom filled with doll houses! It’s one of those pieces that I will never get rid of!
Just look at the fun detail! Plus it’s PINK!!!
Another great storage space for more fabric books!
The light in this room is from Ro-Sham-Beaux. Also, in a fun pink shade.
