One of the perks of having four babies, is how different they all are! As they grow their personalities take off on their own individual paths. It is so fun to watch them interact together and with those outside of the family! But from a decorator’s perspective, it means lots of different styles under one roof! I really love that!
So I’m starting with my Audrey Girl! She’s #3 in the line-up, and she’s the one whose room I am presently working on.
She’s my Sweet 16!!
She made this collage for my birthday a couple of years ago. I LOVE IT!!
Audrey Michal & Her Mid-Century Modern Bedroom
Yes, she’s my namesake! She was nicknamed as a baby (by my life-long BF, Darbi) “Aud-Ball”. This was due to the fact that she had blond hair (she died it black this summer) and still has blue eyes. People used to ask me all the time whose child I was baby-sitting! And she is definitely our “Aud-Ball”. So so unique in all of her ways. She does have her father’s countenance (calm, collected and reserved) and I could not be more proud to call her mine! Yes, mine! She wasn’t switched at birth. She IS MINE!
She’s my reader, thinker, dreamer and selfie-pic taker 🙂 who may have been more comfortable living in the 50’s than now. So, naturally, she leans toward Mid-Century Modern style. Which I actually really enjoy! Not for my whole house maybe. But how perfect that I can create a special lil spot just for my girl!
So, I studied Audrey’s Pinterest Boards and here’s what I found…
I asked her to pinpoint what draws her. She likes the style of the furniture, the white walls, the books and bookshelves (of course), and the funky retro fabric!
Again with the white walls! She likes the light and bright! And the kid LOVES a cozy reading spot! She also want’s her floors to be a rich wood.
Seems fairly simple, right? I mean a white canvas and retro furnishings! It’s really all about the light and books for this girl!
Mid-Century Modern Interest
With a white room, I feel it’s important to add some interest to this blank canvas! So, here’s what she came up with…
This room is so cool! A swing inside! Great idea!
There are countless creative ways to display her favorite novels!
She also loves art! A gallery wall with her own findings would be a fantastic way to add loads of interest!
Mid-Century Modern Furniture
Being such a traditional girl, this element has surprised me the most! I really like all this mid-century furniture!
Jenny-Mike/ Audrey-Mike Room
We are planning bookshelves and lots of 50’s looking decor.
Here’s the current state…
So, what do you think? Any Mid-Century Modern ideas??
