I’ve been participating in a Bible Study by Priscilla Shirer called “The Armor of God” and it’s been really good!  I’ve picked up on many lessons from the Holy Spirit during this study but this last week really struck a chord in me.

Through Philippians 4:6-7 and Colossians 3:15 she has linked the Peace of God with prayer and thanksgiving.  I’ve found this to be so true, especially lately!  In my own life and in the life of a dear friend.

It sort of occurred to me not too long ago that I spend a lot of time on me.  Thinking of me and my needs, I get lost.  Even in prayer.  So, through journaling, I committed to make a change.  I decided in August to begin each day by writing 5 things I am thankful for.

At the time of this decision, I wasn’t specifically seeking the peace of God, I just knew I needed to get out of my own head somehow!  And it worked!  I do feel His peace around me!

A better example of this is my sweet friend, whom I did not get permission from to write this, so I will leave her name out.  Anyway, she is going through junk to say the least.  Her life feels out of control and to many her circumstances would feel quite daunting and hopeless.  But every time I talk to her, she also names off a few things she is thankful for.  I love this about my friend!  Where most of us would be angry with the Lord and scared, she finds a way to thank him!  And I can tell you, her demeanor is catchy and amazing to the watching world.  He is glorified!

So, what am I getting at?  I want to share with you a few things that I love!  Journaling and Kate Spade!  LOL!!  But really!

Journaling is such a necessary and profound tool in my tool box!  Maybe because I have such a short attention span, I have a hard time focusing when I pray!  So I write it down!  Also, I love to be able to go back and see answered prayers!  This is where I write the 5 things that I’m thankful for every morning.

Eat Cake For Breakfast

What better way to journal than in a PINK Kate Spade journal with the words “Eat Cake For Breakfast” embossed in gold on the front!?!  I know, right?
