It seems like a perfect “Family Friday” post!  Where to put multiple guests in your home!

We have a guest room, which is actually Emma’s room when she’s home for college (and she is).

This week we are so excited because my dad is coming to visit and so is Lee and her son Lyle!

I call Lee, Jeff’s first-born, as she has sort of been like one of our children since we met her years ago.  She actually lived with us for a while!

It’s a big deal to me that guests feel very welcome at our house.  I want them to feel as comfy as they do at their own home.  So here’s the plan…

I have this one spot… A room at the top of the stairs.  It’s tiny and pretty much the catch-all for now.  Eventually it will serve as my “resource room” for my fabric library and design work.  But for now, it’s all of my extra junk.  AND Emma’s extra junk!

So, I began with a complete clean out!  Put all the fabric books up.  And found a spot in a closet for all of Emma’s photography stuff.  Quickly hung a canvas painting that I’ve had forever of tulips.  I love it.  It’s pink.  It makes me happy.

Here’s the cleaned out space with the tulip canvas.  Already so much better!

Now, we need a bed!  I want my guests to be super cozy in a nice bed.  Not a pallet on the ground.  So, in three different closets I have these…

Nicely packed in a black box, with wheels on one end, is this bad boy.  It does this…

Just like that you have a standing bed!  As if it’s on a frame!  It’s electric.  You just plug it in and watch it fill up.  It’s as easy to put away too!  You just turn the dial to deflate and it sucks the air right out.  In this case, it’s a twin mattress.  I also have two queen mattresses!  I gotta be prepared for as many people as we can fit in this house!  I love it!

So, in this pic you can see I still had some christmas decorations to find a home for.  And you can also see where my fun fabric library lives!  I’ve had this old cabinet for 18 years.  It was in a 70-year-old house we used to own, way back before cameras were invented.  JK.  I wish I had pics as it was an awesome house.

The next day I added the fun accessories.  The the special touches that will help my guests feel more than welcome (I hope).

This is just a Target basket with towels and various toiletries that a guest might have left behind. (shampoo, razors, nail clippers, facial wipes, etc).  I’m pretty much Hotel Jenny!

I actually had this Robert Abbey lamp still packed away in a box in storage.  I was so happy to finally have THE reason to dig it out and give it a home!  I also LOVE this Kate Spade gold polka-dotted glass, that’s not glass.  So, a set is great for the pool area and for guests to not worry about breaking anything!

Guests who stay in this room, also have these flowers…

in a flower box right outside their second story window!  I love summer!!

And this completes my spare space makeover!  We’re ready for Lee and baby Lyle, AND Dad get’s the guest room!  I haven’t revealed the guest room yet, but will very soon!

Happy Family Friday!  Hope you all are having a fabulous and blessed summer!
