It doesn’t matter how you plan, open floor plan, easy access to comfy seating, etc. The kitchen is where it’s at. Right!?! I find myself directing people toward the dining table all the time, because they don’t seem to want to leave the island! Why is this so?
To tell you the truth, I love it! I love to cook and bake surrounded by my family and friends!
I believe a family could have a 10,000 square foot home and 90% of the waking hours will still be in the kitchen.
It’s the Hub for certain! It’s where memories are made. Bonds are formed. Tears are shed. How many stories could you share of your own family in your kitchen?
It’s where prayers are said. It’s where prayers are heard…
I do LOVE to design beautiful kitchens, but in the end, the color of the cabinets is the LEAST important part! It’s what goes on inside them that has a lasting impact. In a couple of decades we will look back at these kitchens and laugh at all the old-fashioned out of date style, but we’ll remember the wonderful memories that were made.
Don’t wait until you have perfected your space to share it! Don’t worry about your cooking or number of place settings! Break out the paper plates and throw some chicken nuggets in the oven! Because our days are numbered and time flies! The people in your life NEED to be in community! They need to commune in a safe place!
It’s that time of year when everyone is preparing for the holidays and ALL the goodies that will be prepared and consumed in the kitchen! While we’re preparing the food, let’s be intentional about what else goes on our kitchens! Let’s cultivate family in our Culinary Havens!
Happy Family Friday!
