Tis the season for High School Homecomings and there is hardly a thing I love more than a party of teens in my house!  Maybe you feel a little intimidated by the prospect of being the host home?  I want to give you a few tips to make the process as easy and beautiful as possible!  The kids love whatever you come up with and the effort is ALWAYS worth the memories made under your roof!

Color Scheme

The first aspect in planning a party is color scheme, right?  And guess what?  For homecoming this is a “no-brainer”.  The High school’s colors of course!

Centerpiece

Fresh flowers always add beauty!  Also, think of what is in season.  I bought a bunch of these little pumpkins and went to town with glitter and guess!  Seriously so fun!

I also purchased an array of different purple ribbon and laid them out in a pattern to dress up a dull white table-cloth.  You could go a million different ways with ribbon and patterns!  Get creative!

Layering

Just a few extras around your table will really round out the entire theme!

These fun burlap banners can be found at Hobby Lobby.  I layered them with black card stock and then cut out letters from glitter cardstock to spell out “HOMECOMING”.  Ground breaking!  I know!

I tried to stick to the purple, black and gold color scheme.  I literally walked around the house collecting everything that was one of these colors!

The chandelier was even incorporated into the festivities!  It’s appalling how early Hobby Lobby puts Christmas decor out!  But it sure came in handy here!  And please notice the garland of many disco balls!  Does anything say “party-time” quite like a disco ball?  I think not.

On each chair I tied a great big shimmering ribbon in either purple or black to dress up the space even more and tie it all together to flow in a cohesive way.

Place Settings

No, I didn’t just have purple polka-dotted plates lying around prior to this event.  But I’m a collector of dishes so I didn’t mind adding to the collection.  I found them and the silver chargers on Amazon.  Another option would be to rent your dishes and napkins.  You may be surprised at how reasonably priced this option is!

Another way to make your engagement special is to have name cards printed in advance for each guest!  It’s a great way to make each of them feel special.

Little Extras

What party is complete without a special (color coordinated) beverage?  It was easy in this case, because the sparkling grape juice is, in fact purple!

Aren’t they so cute toasting to “Hoco 2014”!?!

Your Guests

The most important part are the kids, right?  Having the opportunity to have them in my home is an honor for me, always!  I cherish these times with each of them and would do it again every year of my life!  All of the teens who have come in and out of my home are extremely special to me and I’m so blessed every time I get the opportunity to create something special for them!
