It’s TIME!! I seriously live for this season! Anyone who knows me can attest, I go ALL OUT at Christmas! I’m so excited to finally invite you all in (virtually) to celebrate this most festive time of year!
Obviously, I love color and I certainly don’t shy away from it! This may be one reason I love love love the Holiday Season! For the sake of overload I’m dividing up this tour. Beginning with the family room, I hope you enjoy this walk through my Christmas Home!
The Family Room
Santa stands atop this round entry table ready to greet all our visitors for Christmas! And yes I keep those jars stocked with Red and Green candy throughout the season! Would Santa have it any other way!?
I’ll confess, I chose the fabrics and style for this room with Christmas in mind. That’s how important it is to me. But you can turn any color scheme into a festive wonderland!
Our Christmas tree is a collection of the last 24 years. I’m not one to throw out the old childhood ornaments. I love the nostalgia of mixing old and memorable with a few beautiful newer pieces!
My best tips for decorating your tree include, combining 3 or more different styles and colors of ribbon, having all different sizes of ornaments, even small to medium signs add some fun interest to a tree, and finally add different sizes of lights to your tree. If you have a pre-lit tree in white a fun option is to add the bigger bulbs in different colors!
This specific tree came pre-lit in the smaller white lights as well as the round larger bulbs AND the flocking. Which is a mess every year but I LOVE IT! An example of old added to new can be seen in the gold strand of beads. We’ve honestly had those on our tree since the beginning!
The stockings are hung with care via these stocking holders that I purchased over 17 years ago. We’ve had to change out the stockings through the years due to damage, but everyone always gets the privilege of personally choosing their own.
Just adding a few fun Christmas pillows to your sofas and chairs has the effect of spreading Cheer through your entire home.
Although tedious, I love our Christmas Villages displayed behind the sofa and in the entryway. Stacks of books underneath the cotton snow hides the man-made hills in our festive little towns.
Christmas is the only season that I actually change out everything in a space. Including the bookshelves! Over the years, I’ve built up a collection of gingerbread houses and nutcrackers.
Even Max (the cat) finds comfort and peace in this family room during the Holidays!
Thank you for taking the time to walk through Part 1 of this Tamplin Holiday Home Tour with me! I do hope you’ve found inspiration to make your home even more festive for your friends and family! Stay tuned for Part 2! And THANK YOU Kristen at Fidelis Studio for your photography skills! I love you! Also a special thanks to the wonderful team at Showmedecorating.com.
