Last night I tossed and turned. I’d love to say that I was thinking of what Jesus did for me a Friday over 2000 years ago, but I truthfully just wanted to sleep! I was tired and I should’ve fallen right to sleep! But instead, I rolled around changing positions, adjusting pillows and growing more and more frustrated! Around 3 I realized, “Jenny, you went all day on one bottle of water!” I was dehydrated!
That simple. I have fridges (yes, plural) stocked with water bottles. Not to mention the water coming from the faucet that isn’t deadly just not as good as desante. I live in America! I should NEVER be dehydrated! None of us should! Yet, most of us are! We have clean water around every corner yet most of us deprive ourselves of this wonderful (and I believe miraculous) substance!
If it weren’t easily accessible for me, I’d worry more. But knowing that it’s right there anytime I’m ready to partake, I take it for granted. I even neglect it. And the crazy part is it’s to my own physical detriment! I’m the one that is directly effected by my neglect of what is provided for me in abundance.
As soon as Jeff’s alarm went off this morning I grabbed my phone and went straight to this…
Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, “Rivers of living water will flow from his Heart.”
“When he said ‘living water,’ he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into His glory.” John 7:37-39 (NLT)
It dawned on me that this is how I treat the living water as well! The Holy Spirit that God gave me when he chose to let His son die for my sins, is in me at all times, but how often do I take that for granted?
Today, I’m choosing to drink. I’m choosing to deeply ponder the reality of Jesus’s sacrifice because of my sin. I’m drinking in this gift and letting it hydrate my soul again. Plus I’m drinking water. Haha!
Happy Family Friday! It is because of today, that we have real hope so drink up! Love to all!
