Emma Jack - 19 & Counting
Emma Jack is 19! And she’s not home from college yet. Ugh! I don’t like being away from my kids on their birthday! It feels unnatural!
Emma was named after my beloved Grandma-Emma, whom I loved so much! Her real middle name is Jordan, however, when she was a baby, Aunt Darbi nicknamed her Emma Jack-Jordan after Jack-Jordan’s BBQ restaurant. LOL! It stuck and was shortened to Emma-Jack at some point.
She’s my oldest girl and she is AMAZING! I know, I know. All moms think that. But in this instance, it’s true! She was born with grand ideas and a strong drive to implement them! Plus the energy to make it all happen!
I’ve always said, Emma is more comfortable in the water than out. When she was 19 months old I couldn’t keep her from jumping into the hotel pool. She didn’t care if anyone was there to catch her! She’s still somewhat of a fish out of water.
Emma (with her sister, Audrey) is a whale trainer for Halloween.
She LOVES whales! Yes, present tense. In fact this happened on her 18th birthday…
His name is Hugh. She did good. It’s pretty cool!
Emma is the 3rd in this pic
Emma is 21 months younger than her brother, and 23 months older than Audrey. She’s always been a fabulous sister in my opinion. My favorite sibling story for her is when I took Audrey and Mady (at a very young age) to get their ears pierced. Emma’s were pierced when she was a year old. At this point Mady was 1, Audery was 3 and Emma was 5. Mady and Audrey sat calmly in the chairs waiting for their piercing, while Emma screamed and cried in terror for them! We had to calm her down! Not the other two!
She’s always been an active girl! She’ll try anything and then work hard to beat you at it!
She’s ALWAYS been the connector (she’s in the middle). Bringing sometimes unexpected unity between her friends. BTW I love all of these girls. I count them as my own as well and I MISS THEM!!
Her brother will tell you, Emma is his best friend. They look like a couple of hippies, right!?!
It sort of hard to find pics of this girl, as SHE IS my photographer! She set the camera up for this pic that I wanted of all my kids in our front yard in Midland before we moved. I LOVE IT!

She is wrapping up her freshman year at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee and I miss her terribly! We all do! She texted me a week before her BDay saying that she bought a pizza for her birthday on my credit card. I said, “Your Birthday is a week away.” She replied, “Ya, I know. I was thinking all week that my Birthday was this week!” LOL
I could seriously write a book on this girl to share with you all of the ways that I am so proud that she is mine. She is more than I deserve and I’ve been thankful every day for the last 19 years!
We love you, Emma!!
Happy Family Friday!
