This is the 4th in my series to honor my good friend, Dave. You can 1, 2, and 3 here! Dave passed away a few weeks ago and I felt the need to memorialize him in this way. I want to share all the ways that Dave profoundly helped me. My hope in doing so, is that you may find healing as I have.
So, this post is, without question, on a lighter note! But the funny thing is, DAVE WOULD LOVE IT!!
Coming from a person who has a hard time indulging in a mani/pedi or massage, Dave spent a fair amount of time teaching me about self-care and challenging me to find ways to treat my “inner-child”. This has been a very hard concept for me.
Another piece of the puzzle is, I’ve been in a Bible Study rut, so to speak. Having gone through a very trying and tough few years, I have found it challenging (to say the least) to open my Bible. I spent last weekend away and this challenge was forefront in my brain to entire trip.
But God is a light to my path…
Bible Study Doodling
Oh My GOODNESS!!! I was so excited to be introduced to this new phenomenon! Bible Study Doodling!! Heard of it? I may just be late to the party, but I’m so happy to have arrived!
I always think of my brain as trapped in a “type A” space and dying to be freed! Why can’t I think out of the box and come up with drawing pretty things directly into my Bible?
Well, this week I’ve found the way out! Haha! Check these out…
Have you seen this? I’m in LOVE with the concept! Pulling out the verse that really speaks to you and coming up with a creative way to reiterate what it means to YOU… And doing this DIRECTLY on the pages of your Bible!
There are so many beautiful Bible Doodling examples on Pinterest. I spent some time on it this week and it made me really wish I was a skilled artist…
Like the person that created this one! Jaw dropping and inspiring, isn’t it!? So maybe my “doodles” won’t be on this level but still!
This is possible! And so so stunning! Again, I’m not a researcher, however I’ve heard several times lately how much more your brain retains from a picture rather than words alone.
So I did it! Monday morning I woke up and could hardly wait to gather all of the fun and artsy supplies and begin this new way of digging into God’s word!
I even bought a new Bible, with the intention of starting fresh! A new era. The little girl in me is absolutely doing cartwheels! It’s MY creation on top of life-giving words! So profoundly fun to me!
Have you ever seen the movie “Thirteen Going On Thirty”? I feel as if I’m around 13 again! Hehe! The color possibilities are endless! LOL!
I was introduced to stonesoupforfive.com. She has even written doodling Bible studies that are super cheap and easy to download and get started ASAP!
She is having a special this week and you can buy a 1st and 2nd Corinthians combo!
So what do you think? Is this new to you or something you’ve been doing for years?
Thank you, Dave, for teaching me to take care of myself and most importantly, thank you for always leading me to the foot of the Cross!
Happy Family Friday!
