I’ve found that when I’m stumped on a design, the fastest and most effective way to begin formulating a plan, is to find an inspirational piece.
With the Cavitt’s formal living room (in Sugar Land, Texas), I knew it would need to have a foundation in blue and white. Leah loves this combo and is a collector! I saw blue as the common thread to go through the entire house. But what would make this room unique? Then I came across a gorgeous picture of a peacock. No one creates more stunning color combos than the Lord. TRUTH. So, the peacock brought in inspiration for green and gold.
Leah is a stunning blonde with impeccable taste, and she happens to adore soft shades of pink. Why wouldn’t she? They compliment her coloring and personality perfectly! So, truthfully it was her that really pushed for a touch of blush!
I revealed the Cavitt’s family space last week. They have 5 beautiful small children and Leah was adamant that she did not want to spend a fortune on a room and be upset with her children if they messed something up!
So we didn’t spend a fortune! We kept everything very reasonably priced. We used a faux silk for the curtains, We found some great tables from Joss and Main, and art (the gold foliage art) from Etsy.
We found a great rug with a fabulous design, that was very reasonably priced. Rugs are an easy upgrade down the road after the kids are a bit older.
We found this beautiful arrangement on One Kings Lane but Leah already had a beautiful blue and white porcelain planter, so she found a great source for dried flowers and made her own centerpiece.
We also used books that she already had and ordered some in the right color combos from amazon.
Leah used the leftover green faux silk and made her own pillow forms.
We kept the space light and bright by adding one brass floor lamp and one table lamp that also displays art.
This space makes me so happy! And I love that it truly reflects the heartbeat of this sweet family. Elegant, yet playful! Cavitt’s, you were a true blessing to work with!
