Jenny Tamplin | College Station, Texas | Guide To An Awesome Dorm

For those of you that didn’t read the last College Guide to the Ultimate Door Room, I’ve put together a guide to living in college dorms. Make sure you check it out!  I talked about planning and how to go about preparing for moving in the dorm.

The next step to living in a dorm is having a place for everything! With such a small space it is easy to get cluttered and have a dirty dorm room. Take a look at some of these tips for different ways you can plan to keep organized in your dorm room!

1. Keep It Tidy

Keep your bathroom tidy. Sometimes it can just be 2 people sharing a dorm, but you could have suite mates and then there is always the chance that you could have a community bathroom. Womp womp womp.

Shower Caddy: One way that you can keep organized in the bathroom is by having a shower caddy with all of your bathroom needs kept together! This can include your towel, all your shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, etc. I love this shower caddy from PB Teen because you can hang it and it has all different compartments for your bathroom necessities!

Makeup Magnetic Board: If you want to keep your makeup somewhere it won’t get lost and easily accessible, make a magnetic board for your makeup to go on! Just follow this easy DIY from Inspired Experiments to make a fun makeup board like the one below!

2. Keep It Organized

Keep your main room organized as well! This can look like a variety of different things but here are a few of my favorite ways to keep your room organized:

Roller Caddy: Invest in a rolling caddy like this Raskog Kitchen Cart from Ikea. It’s only $30, and comes in turquoise, black and cream. And it is PERFECT for storing odds and ins like breakfast foods, coffee, mugs, books and so much more! And what’s even better is that when you aren’t using it you can roll it under your bed to allow for more space in your room!

Jewelry Organizer: If you have lots-o-jewelry (who doesn’t!  Right!?), don’t hide it in a jewelry box!  Leave it on display! This is a great example of a jewelry hanger that keeps your necklaces detangled and earrings all accounted for, while also adding a cute decoration to your room!

Clipboard organizers: To keep all of your to-do lists, assignments, letters and photos separate and organized, hang fun patterned clipboards on the wall! This will help you keep important things in front of you as a reminder, and also clear up some desk space!

Coffee Corner: On top of that standard dresser that the dorm room leaves you, create a little coffee station for yourself! Buy carton and containers to keep your coffee pods in, napkins and creamers! It’s a nice little treat for both you and any friends that come over!
