A bedroom for a teen girl is one of my most favorite things to create! And that’s just what we’re walking through this week for Whimsy Wednesday! Just as we worked through the process of turning a little boy’s room into a teen boy’s space, we’re going to take the design from last week (in our little girl’s room) and tweet it fit our young lady’s evolving taste!
Again, we’re going about it in a different way in that I’m going to share 3 tips on what NOT to do in your daughter’s room design! By following this simple “what not to do” guideline, your daughter will most assuredly be happy with the her new and improved space! Let’s get started!
Don’t Neglect Metallics!
A little bling goes a long way! By adding just a touch of it, as Sita Montgomery did in this room, You can add tons of DRAMA to a teen girls space! Notice the subtle sheen of the striped gold pillow playing off the starburst mirror over the bed!
Don’t Be Predictable!
I love finding an unpredictable pendant to showcase in the center of a teen’s room, as I did in this design. We used these spheres that came in a sparkly group of four and hung them at varying heights in the center of the room. They do take center stage in the space!
When you’re thinking “unpredictable” you MUST consider all of the faux furs out on the market now! The trend with faux’s these days is to illustrate our love for animals! Plus they make things so cozy!
Don’t Shy Away From Bold Color!
Just a pop of color in an otherwise neutral or pastel space is all the punch you’ll need for your young lady! Notice how the vibrant turquoise in the desk is played up just a tad via the artwork on the wall! The result is stunning, right!?!
And with that, after a few changes from the little girls room, here is the final mock room for a teen girl! Hope you like it!
