What do you think of when you think of the color, black?  Authority, power, stability and strength, elegant, sophisticated, mysterious and bold are some of the feelings that are conjured up from the color, black.

Black is extremely versatile and can often even be used as a neutral.  I want to share 12 AWESOME ways to incorporate black.

1. The LBD

The LBD (Little Black Dress) is notorious for a reason, right!?  I would say it makes a person appear elegant.  Maybe even strong and sophisticated as well.

2. The Black Car

Is there any color that is more sleek on a car than black?  It definitely conjures up feelings of authority and power.

3. The Study

Here’s an example of going all in and painting the walls AND the cabinetry black and it is stunning!  Especially with the brass touches.  Black would cause a room to feel cozy as well.  I would venture to say this space also gives off a feeling of stability and it is definitely bold.

4. The Bedroom

I love this black wall in a bedroom.  See how the white bedding in stark contrast lifts the mood of the room and causes it to not feel quite so heavy.  Also, what a great idea to have a chalkboard in a gold frame up against a black wall!  Adds some fun to the elegance.

5. Bold Pattern

Think of the color combinations that could occur in this space!  I also love the feeling of structure the bold black stripes seem to produce.

6. Backdrop

Because of the stark contrast between the two extremes, black and white, it creates an elegant yet powerful background.  This effect makes it a prime choice for layering with other bright colors.  This table-cloth is a great example.  The pops of bright pink look exquisite on top of the black and white stripes.

7. The Ceiling

Tobi Fairley did a phenomenal job of using the stunning effects of black and white on this ceiling.  Again, notice how the turquoise just pops against the stripes.  And what a great way to change things up a bit!  Stripes on the ceiling!  How interesting!

8. The Floor

How about painting the floors black?  It’s definitely different and could be mysterious, right?  I love the way these old floors look with the glossy black finish!

9.  The Door

This is a bathroom in which the door is painted black up against a wall of white subway tile.  Also, notice the black ceiling.  I think it is a very sophisticated space, don’t you?

10. The Cabinets

I don’t normally gravitate toward darker colors such as black, however, I find these black cabinets to be beautiful!  I think what makes it nice for me is the enormous window allowing natural light to poor in and the white walls, backsplash, counter and floor.

11. The Counters

While I don’t really care for the shiny black granite, these honed countertops are nice!  Again, contrasting with the white cabinetry, they draw interest to the accessories and smaller details of the space.

12. The Artwork

And, finally, the artwork is another way that black is another great choice to incorporate black into your decor.  I love this wall of black and white artwork.  Framed in gold frames combined with the number of paintings creates such interest!   It gives off an air of sophistication.  Don’t you think?
